About Eleta Jones

Eleta Jones, PhD, LPCEle­ta Jones pro­vides career coun­sel­ing and coach­ing for adults.  Her prac­tice is locat­ed in West Hart­ford, Con­necti­cut.

Pri­or to open­ing her career coun­sel­ing prac­tice, she worked at the Cen­ter for Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment of the Uni­ver­si­ty of Hart­ford for 30 years where she was asso­ciate direc­tor of the Cen­ter.  Besides being asso­ciate direc­tor, she was also, con­cur­rent­ly, direc­tor of the Center’s Career Coun­sel­ing Depart­ment and direc­tor of the Center’s Insti­tute for Lead­er­ship & Tal­ent Devel­op­ment.

For 29 years, Dr. Jones taught a Career Coun­sel­ing course to grad­u­ate stu­dents get­ting their Mas­ter’s degree in Coun­sel­ing at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Saint Joseph.  She has also taught Career Man­age­ment cours­es in the Uni­ver­si­ty of Connecticut’s MBA Pro­gram in Hart­ford.

Ele­ta is a mem­ber of the Con­necti­cut Career Coun­sel­ing & Devel­op­ment Asso­ci­a­tion and is cur­rent­ly the pres­i­dent of the asso­ci­a­tion.  She has also served as trea­sur­er and mem­ber­ship chair for the asso­ci­a­tion.  In 2006, she was award­ed the “Dis­tin­guished Pro­fes­sion­al Award” by the Con­necti­cut Coun­sel­ing Asso­ci­a­tion.

Ele­ta received her Ph.D. in Guid­ance and Coun­sel­ing with an empha­sis on career devel­op­ment from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Michi­gan.  She earned a Mas­ter of Arts in Teach­ing at Wes­leyan Uni­ver­si­ty and a Bach­e­lor of Arts in his­to­ry from Car­leton Col­lege.  She is a Licensed Pro­fes­sion­al Coun­selor in the State of Con­necti­cut and is a Nation­al­ly Cer­ti­fied Coun­selor.
